Cheritera Buah

Cheritera Buah

Demikian bandingan hidup kita.

Heart Wheel Journal

Assalamualaikum...

How're you? How's your Ramadhan?

Did you plan your Ramadhan this time? Do you have your Ramadhan's goal lists? If you have, that's good, you've done a very good job to make such a self- improvement of yourselves. For you who still don't, come let see if this can change your mind or not, because you're still not too late.

About a week ago, I received an e-mail from a friend told about this 'Heart Wheel Journal'. So, what's Heart Wheel Journal? The Heart Wheel Journal is like a planner that you do each day during Ramadhan to help centre and focus yourself for His pleasure while improving your iman, character and good deeds. It is a 30-day guide for an outstanding Ramadhan by Muhammed al-Shareef complete with heart food, daily planner, salah tracker, heart wheel and salah concentration tips.

Taken from the Heart Wheel Journal book:
The Qur’an guides us to the specific ingredients of a pure heart. The Heart Wheel Journal allows you to focus on eight slices of your heart, which were extracted directly from the Qur’an and Sunnah. If completed correctly, one should be able to see a graphic representation of how rich his/her own heart is. This measurement is a gift of self consciousness. You will learn where your heart is at now, and what it will take to grow your heart to the closer levels of righteousness to Allah (swt).

Anyway, found this verse from the famous author's blog, Sis Zabrina. She wrote, Will Rogers once said, Plans get you into things, but you got to work your way out.

We're all always in need of self improvement, and even more during the time of Ramadhan. It may works in different ways for different people, so, if you feel this journal will somewhat benefit you, don't waste your time, use it. But, if it's not for you then seek other ways which you can reflect and maximize your time in order to gain His pleasure. Please don't let this Ramadhan slip by without having improved your character even if a little and keep repenting from The Most High

Ramadhan Kareem.

Berenang Di Sungai Ramadhan

Assalamualaikum. ..

Sekadar perkongsian dari Dr. Aidh Abdullah Al Qarni (Berteduhlah di Taman Hati). Juga penulis buku La Tahzan (Jangan Bersedih/Don't Be Sad) dan banyak lagi.

Selamat datang Ramadhan.
Bulan taubat dan keredhaan.
Bulan perbaikan dan iman.
Bulan sadhaqah dan ihsan.
Bulan pengampunan dari Ar-Rahman.
Bulan berhiasnya janaan (syurga).
Bulan dibelenggunya syaitan.

Waktu dihapuskannya segala keburukan.

Mengulang-ulang istighfar, mengeluarkan air mata penyesalan.

Fasting 2

The Manners of Fasting

1. Eating a pre-dawn meal

• All Muslims agree that it is preferred to eat a pre-dawn meal and that there is no sin upon one who does not do so. Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah said: "Eat a pre-dawn meal, for there are blessings in it." This is related by alBukhari and Muslim.

• Al-Miqdam ibn Madyakrib reported that the Prophet, upon whom be peace, said: "You should eat this pre-dawn meal for it is a blessed nourishment." This is related by an-Nasa'i with a good chain. The reason why it is a blessing is that it strengthens the fasting person, makes him more energetic, and makes the fast easier for him.

• Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allah said: "The pre-dawn meal is blessed, so do not neglect it even if you only take a sip of water. Verily, Allah and the angels pray for those who have pre-dawn meals." This is related by Ahmad.

• The time for the pre-dawn meal is between the middle of the night and dawn. It is considered best to delay it (that is, as close to dawn a possible). Zaid ibn Thabit reported: "We ate the pre-dawn meal with the Messenger of Allah and then we got up for the prayer. He was asked: 'What was the amount of time between the two?' He responded: '[The time it would take to recite] fifty verses.' " This is recounted by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

• 'Amr ibn Maimun adds: "The companions of Muhammad, upon whom be peace, would be the first to break the fast and the last to eat their pre-dawn meals." This is recorded by al-Baihaqi with a sahih chain.

2. Supplications while breaking the fast and while fasting

• Ibn Majah related from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'Aas that the Prophet, upon whom be peace, said: "A fasting person, upon breaking his fast, has a supplication that will not be rejected. When 'Abdullah broke his fast he would say: "O Allah, I ask of You, by Your mercy that encompasses everything, to forgive me."

• It is confirmed that the Prophet would say: The thirst has gone, the glands are wet and, Allah willing, the reward is confirmed. In mursal form, it is reported that he would say: "O Allah, for You I have fasted and with Your provisions do I break my fast."

3. Refraining from performing any actions that do not befit the fasting

• Fasting is not just refraining from eating and drinking, but it is also refraining from everything else that Allah has forbidden. Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet said: "Fasting is not [abstaining] from eating and drinking only, but also from vain speech and foul language. If one of you is being cursed or annoyed, he should say: "I am fasting, I am fasting." This is related by Ibn Khuzaimah, Ibn Hibban, and al-Hakim. The latter said that it is sahih according to Muslim's criterion.

4. Fasting, being generous and studying the Qur'an

• Being generous and studying the Qur'an is recommended during any time, but it is especially stressed during the month of Ramadan.

• Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Prophet was the most generous of people, but he would be his most generous during Ramadan when he would meet with [the angel] Gabriel. He would meet with him every night and recite the Qur'an. When Gabriel met him, he used to be more generous than a fast wind."

5. Fasting, striving to perform as many acts of worship as possible during the last ten days of Ramadan

• Al-Bukhari and Muslim record from 'Aishah that during the last ten days of Ramadan, the Messenger of Allah would wake his wives up during the night and then remain apart from them (that is, being busy in acts of worship).

• A version in Muslim states: "He would strive [to do acts of worship] during the last ten days of Ramadan more than he would at any other time." At-Tirmizhi also recorded this from 'Ali.

Matters that breaks one’s fast – The Concise Presentation of the fiqh (Dr Abdul Azeem Badawi)

1. Intentionally eating or drinking

If a person forgetfully eats or drinks, then he does not have to make up the fast nor is there any expiation in his case. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet s.a.w. said, “Whoever forgets while he is fasting and eats and drinks something should complete his fast, for it was Allah who fed him or gave him to drink”.

2. Vomiting intentionally

If a person is overcome by nausea and vomits, then he does not have to make up the fast nor is there any expiation in his case. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet s.a.w. said, “One who is overcome by nausea and vomits does not have to make up the day. One who intentionally makes himself vomit must make up the day”.

3. Menstruation and Post-partum bleeding

Even if these occur at the last moment before sundown, they break the fast according to the consensus of the scholars.

4. Sexual Relation

Actions that are permissible for the fasting person:

1. Washing for the sake of cooling

Abu Bakr ibn ‘Abdul Rahman narrated from one of the Companions of the Prophet s.a.w. who said, “I saw the Messenger of Allah s.a.w in al-Arj (a village outside Madinah) pour water over his head while fasting due to thirst or due to the heat”.

2. Rinsing one’s mouth and nose but without putting the water too deep

Laqeet ibn Sabirah narrated that the Messenger of Allah s.a.w. said “(In ablution) you should put water well up your nose, unless you are fasting”.

3. The medical practice of cupping and drawing blood

Ibn Abbas stated, “The Prophet s.a.w. was cupped while he was fasting”. However, this act is disliked for the person who is weak. (Companions) dislike the act of cupping for the fasting person? He replied, “No, unless due to weakness (on the part of the person who would then find difficulty fasting).

4. Kissing or touching one’s spouse for the one who has the ability to control his actions.

Aishah r.a. said, “The Prophet s.a.w. would kiss and caress while fasting. And he was the one who had most control over his desires”.

5. To be in the state of sexual defilement in the morning

Both Aishah and Umm Salamah narrated that it would be Fajr time and the Prophet s.a.w. would be in the state of sexual defilement due to the relations with his family and then he would bathe and fast.

6. Continuing the fast until the pre-dawn meal

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah s.a.w. say, “Do not fast without breaking it. But if you insist on continuing the fast”. “O Messenger of Allah s.a.w, but you continue your fast”. He replied, “I am not similar to any of you (on this matter). During the night, I have one who feeds me and gives me drink”.

7. The use of a toothstick, perfume, oil, kohl, eye drops and injections

The basic ruling concerning all of these originally permissible matters is that they are still permissible. If they are forbidden for the fasting person, Allah or his Messenger s.a.w would have clarified that. And Allah s.w.t says (Surah 19, verse 64); “Your Lord is never forgetful”.

Selamat Berpuasa dan Selamat Beribadat.

Fasting 1

Fasting
  • As-Siyam generally means "to abstain from something." For example, a verse in the Qur'an says: "I have vowed to the Merciful to abstain--that is, from speaking.
  • What is meant here is abstaining from food, drink, and sexual intercourse from dawn until sunset with the explicit intention of doing so (for the sake of Allah).

The Virtue of Fasting

  • Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported: The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) said, "Allah the Exalted and Majestic said: 'Every act of the son of Adam is for him except As-Siyam (the fasting) which is (exclusively) for Me and I will reward him for it.‘ Fasting is a shield. If one is fasting, he should not use foul language, raise his voice, or behave foolishly. If someone reviles him or fights with him he should say, 'I am fasting,' twice. By Him in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad is, the breath of one who is fasting is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts, experiences 2 joys: he feel pleasure when he breaks the fast, and when he meets his Lord he will be happy that he has fasted." This is related by Ahmad, Muslim, and an-Nasa'i. A similar version was recorded by al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud, but with the following addition: “He leaves his food, drink, and desires for My sake. His fasting is for Me... I will give the reward for it, and for every good deed, he will receive ten similar to it."
  • 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr reported that the Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, said: "The fast and the Qur'an are two intercessors for the servant of Allah on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will say: 'O Lord, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me intercede for him.' The Qur'an will say: 'I prevented him from sleeping at night. Let me intercede for him.' And their intercession will be accepted." Ahmad related this hadith with a sahih chain.

  • Abu Umamah reported: "I came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'Order me to do a deed that will allow me to enter Paradise.' He said: 'Stick to fasting, as there is no equivalent to it.' Then I came to him again and he said: 'Stick to fasting."' This hadith is related by Ahmad, an-Nasa'i, and al-Hakim who classified it as sahih.
  • Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allah said: "No servant fasts on a day in the path of Allah except that Allah removes the hellfire seventy years further away from his face." This is related by "the group," except for Abu Dawud.

  • Sahl ibn Sa'd reported that the Prophet said: "There is a gate to Paradise that is called ar-Rayyan. On the Day of Resurrection it will say: 'Where are those who fasted?' When the last [one] has passed through the gate, it will be locked." This is related by alBukhari and Muslim.

Types of Fasting

  • There are two types of fasting: obligatory and voluntary.
  • Obligatory can be further subdivided into:-

a) the fast of Ramadan,

b) the fast of expiation, and

c) the fast of fulfilling a vow

The Fast of Ramadhan

  • “O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious). [Observing Saum (fasts)] for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g. an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskin (poor person) (for the day missed). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast is better for you if only you know. The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah [i.e. to say Takbir (Allahu Akbar; Allah is the Most Great] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.” [Al-Baqarah: 183 - 185]

  • From the sunnah we have the following statements of the Prophet: "Islam is built upon [the following] five pillars: testifying that there is no God except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, the establishment of the prayer, the giving of zakah, the fast of Ramadan and the pilgrimage to Makkah." Talhah ibn 'Ubaidullah reported that a man came to the Prophet and said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me what Allah requires of me as regards fasting." He answered, "The month of Ramadan." The man asked: "Is there any other [fast]?" The Prophet answered: "No, unless you do so voluntarily."
  • The Muslims have unanimously agreed on the obligation of fasting in Ramadhan. So whoever rejects the obligation of fasting during Ramadhan, the he is an apostate, disbeliever, who must seek repentance. So if he repents and agrees to its obligation, he is to be pardoned, but if not, he is to be executed as a disbeliever.

  • Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported: The Prophet (s.a.w.) said, “He who observes fasting during the month of Ramadhan with Faith while seeking its reward from Allah, will have his pasts sins forgiven.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

  • Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported: The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said, “When Ramadhan begins the gates of Jannah are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
  • Fasting is mandatory on every adult Muslim (i.e. he has reached the age of puberty). Therefore, fasting is not obligatory upon a disbeliever, nor will it be accepted from him until he accepts Islam. Neither is it obligatory for a youth to fast until he reaches the age of puberty.
  • However, children (i.e. under age of puberty) should be ordered to fast, if they are able to and it won’t cause harm to them, so that they may grow accustomed and attached to it.`

The Essential Elements of The Fast
  • The fast has two essential elements (literally, "pillars") that must be fulfilled for it to be valid and acceptable. They are:

i) abstaining from acts that break the fast
ii) the intention
  • Allah instructs in the Qur'an: "And they are ordained nothing else than to serve Allah, keeping religion pure for Him." The Prophet, upon whom be peace, said: "Actions are judged according to the intention behind them, and for everyone is what he intended."
  • The intention must be made before fajr and during every night of Ramadan. This point is based on the hadith of Hafsah which reported that the Prophet said: "Whoever does not determine to fast before fajr will have no fast" (that is, it won't be accepted). This is related by Ahmad, an-Nasa'i, at-Tirmizhi, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Majah. Ibn Khuzaimah and Ibn Hibban have classified it as sahih.
  • The intention is valid during any part of the night. It need not be spoken, as it is in reality an act of the heart which does not involve the tongue. It will be fulfilled by one's intention to fast out of obedience to Allah and for seeking His pleasure.
  • All scholars agree that fasting is obligatory upon every sane, adult, healthy Muslim male who is not traveling at that time. As for a woman, she must not be menstruating or having post-childbirth bleeding. People who are insane, minors, and those who are traveling, menstruating, or going through post-childbirth bleeding, and the elderly and breast-feeding or pregnant women do not need to observe the fast.
  • For some, the fast is not obligatory at all, for example, the insane. In the case of young people, their parents or guardians should order them to fast. Some are to break the fast and make up the missed days of fasting at a later date, while others are to break the fast and pay a "ransom" (in which case, they are not obliged to make up the days they missed).
